COVID-19

COVID Procedures

Our procedures

We have addressed our procedures in the light of government legislation to ensure the safety of our guests, our local community and ourselves and have put in place some changes.

We hope that you, our guests, can assist in enabling us to operate as safely as possible in these uncertain times.

For details of our cancellation policy for Covid-19 please refer to our terms and conditions.

Arrival & Departure Times

Due to the required sanitisation procedures of the cottages following our usual vigorous cleaning we have felt it is necessary to move the arrival time to 4.30pm and to depart by 9.30am. This will enable us to have adequate time for each cottage changeover.

Pre-arrival

We will ask that, in line with government advice, if you start to develop symptoms before your holiday to stay at home and do not travel. Please ensure that you have not been in contact with anyone displaying Covid symptoms in the last 14 days. Please follow current NHS advice for before and during your holiday.

Pre arrival information is simplified from the usual cottage ‘meet and greet and familiarisation’ although we do hope to have an acceptably socially distanced hello and conversation when guests arrive.

We suggest you do plan ahead for your stay – more than you may normally do. Gardens and places to visit are re-opening and many have introduced a pre booking system. Have a look at www.visitcornwall.com to see up to date information on what is open.

Many local cafes, pubs and restaurants are open for table bookings and for takeaway food but you need to book/order ahead and pay by card.

On arrival – in the cottage

The usual cottage information  file has been removed as it is impossible for us to sanitise. We will send an email with a pdf of your cottage information to you before you arrive.

Enhanced Cleaning Regime includes

Cleaners wearing PPE as appropriate. Hard surfaces, touch points washed twice with appropriate cleaners and then sanitised with alcohol viricidal solution (WHO approved)

Crockery, cutlery and glasses all washed thoroughly in an antibacterial solution on changeover. Pillows and mattress protectors are replaced. All bedding and towels washed on a 60- or 90-degree wash cycle.

All cleaning /maintenance procedures adhered to and documented accordingly.

Completed cleaning check list for changeover.

For the immediate short term we will ask that if you use any books or board games to stack them on the floor. These will be removed and returned to the cottage the following week to reduce contamination risks. Guests might therefore wish to bring their own.

We will continue to provide soap for plenty of handwashing and a bottle of hand sanitiser per property.

During your stay

Our contact details will be available on your booking confirmation, (even though we live on site).

We will continue to leave all necessary cleaners in the cottages as usual. We would ask guests not to use bleach or anti-bacterial products other than those provided for the correct functioning of our septic tank.

If a member of the party develops Covid symptoms during the stay we ask that they let us know immediately and the Government advice is to return to their primary residence and self-isolate for 7 days and other members of the party for 14 days. We would then organise a ‘deep clean’ of the property by an approved company to prepare it for the next guests.

But let us just hope that you all will have a perfectly relaxing and healthy holiday.

At the end of your stay

We will ask guests to strip their beds on departure and put all linen and towels in the bags provided. This may seem an excessive ask, bearing in mind that this may not seem the responsibility of the paying guest, but as 7/10 people who have tested positive for the antibody test were without symptoms, we need to be careful for our own safety too. This is of course only a temporary procedure.

We ask that guests empty all bins and put in the outside bins.

Post departure

We will ask guests to report to us as soon as possible any Covid symptoms if within 14 days of departure from Porthmeor Cottages.

We hope that guests/prospective guests will contact us at any time to discuss any issues or procedures that they are concerned with. It is our wish that everyone should have just as enjoyable holiday as usual, with just a few minor adaptions to minimise infection risks.
