“Clippity Clop is one of our favourite places to stay, located close to a spectacular and unspoiled stretch of north Cornwall coast. The cottage is within a short drive of the charming hamlet of Zennor with its popular Tinners Arms. The excellent Gurnard’s Head inn/restaurant is a 10 minute walk away. Stunning Cape Cornwall, and Pendeen Lighthouse, are easily reached by car. So too are Geevor Tin Mine, and the Levant Mine and Beam Engine complex, both worth a visit. The open-top bus that passes Porthmeor Farm is the best way to get to St Ives.

The cottage itself is cosy, homely, and peaceful, with its own secluded garden. We have stayed there twice and really hope to return”

“We had an excellent time exploring the area, enjoying walks and some of the attractions in the region. Despite Covid restrictions, we were welcomed in and very comfortable throughout our stay. The owners did a great job of adhering to Covid-19 guidelines, and Clippity Clop is extremely well maintained. The lack of light pollution also meant we enjoyed some stargazing. Thank you for a lovely stay.”

“This has been home for the last week and if you fancy a really lovely cottage of the highest quality you should come here. The owners are so welcoming and the location, in this glorious landscape, is perfect for St Ives and Penzance. We have walked the coastal path , explored the standing stones and been to the beach – we will be back. Thank you. Oh, and it’s only a 600 yard walk to the Gurnards Head pub”

“Many thanks for our great stay. We loved your accommodation and the views were breath taking! We really liked the welcome touch with lovely scones, clotted cream and tea. Thank you for the opportunity for the children to feed the hens and to collect eggs. The board games and books were popular with the children, especially when the weather was not so good”

“The view from Eliza’s Croft, whatever the weather, is enough to begin the winding down process, so essential to a successful holiday. Add to that the beautiful countryside and stunning coastline and things don’t get much better. The cottage itself was very comfortable and very well maintained”

“Clippity Clop was a delight to stay in. With easy access to hidden coves and great areas of interest, including local tin mines and St Ives it proved to be a great base. The sunsets over the Atlantic next to the farm also made it idyllic. We enjoyed our access to fresh eggs and found that the provisions available in the cottage were well thought out. We would love to stay here again!”

“We had a wonderful week’s stay at Clippity Clop. Restful times with vigorous walks on the coast path and on the moors. Lovely accommodation, warm and cosy and just the right size for two. On arrival we were thrilled to find a cream tea waiting for us. We look forward to staying again in the future, with such fantastic hosts”

“We have stayed in many holiday cottages within the UK from Cornwall to the north of Scotland over the past 60 years. With only one other, this is the best of all the cottages that we have stayed in. The welcome cream tea, fresh flowers and eggs and the kindness you both have shown us, we cannot thank you enough.”

“Many years ago we had a serendipity moment when travelling along this coastline when we came across this very impressive farm. Then, in the years that followed, we would always travel this way and stop and gaze at this superb place. Then we had the pleasure of staying here in Clippity Clop. On arrival there were flowers in the lounge and bedroom, scones cream and jam. Everywhere in this lovely home was scrupulously clean. We have been so happy here. Cornwall has so much to offer. Spectacular rugged coastline, rolling hills scattered with small villages and hamlets, little twisting roads, stone cottages, clustered old farmsteads, ancient inns, old dried walls, old tin mines, lashings of history. There is so much to see here, a wealth of opportunities for exploration and adventure. Take a ride on the double deck bus, especially the open top one, to Land’s End, visit Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre, Mousehole, Cape Cornwall with its awesome rugged coastline, but mostly staying in this wonderful cottage, sitting in the garden, this is the ideal place to stay to escape the pressures of life and to enjoy a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you Lee and William, we will certainly be coming again.”

“Porthmeor Cottages came highly recommended. The location is ideal for anyone who enjoys all forms of Natural History. Also the on site Pre–historic settlement is a delight to investigate and compare with Chysauster and Carn Euny. Industrial Archeology is everywhere in stunning natural surroundings. Good small shops within driving distance and very good eating out venues to suit all tastes.”

“We drove past Porthmeor Cottages last year and made a note to look it up for this year. On arrival at the property we were bowled over by the transformation from former stable for the farm stallion to self catering cottage. The spec is wonderful and tastefully renovated, it is comfy and warm with brilliant features and a comfy bed all set in a beautiful location. Will deffo return, we love it here!”

“Eliza’s Croft was the perfect location for our 4 night break. Far enough away from the bustle of St Ives, but within easy access to the coast and excellent walking paths. Our friendly hosts made us very welcome and we particularly enjoyed the stunning view from the cottage of the moorland across the valley. We loved it.”

“Our 5 day stay in this well appointed and comfortable cottage was a delight. Attention to detail made our stay over the New Year personal. The scones lovely and the eggs deliciously golden. Just being able to walk for miles amid the rugged stark beauty of this coast is the most delightful route to personal peace. Steeped in history and wondrous wildlife. What’s not to love.”

“We found Eliza’s Croft most comfortable and welcoming. The weather in November has been very wet and windy and it has been lovely to return “home” to a warm and cosy cottage. Eliza’s is extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. We were greeted and warmly welcomed by Lee and William on our arrival. We appreciated the tray of tea, scones, clotted cream and jam and the vase of flowers. I have no hesitation in recommending Porthmeor Cottages for a holiday.”

“Thank you so much Lee and William for everything you do to make this the perfect place it is. We have once again had an enchanted time here, a fortnight up there amongst the best of the many visits we’ve now made. Weather perfect for all we wanted to do, combining energetic pursuits with time to relax doing nothing in particular except soak up the unique atmosphere of this special place.”

“Our stay here has surpassed our expectations. The cottage itself was a perfect base, cosy, quiet, very well equipped, sparkingly clean, yes, but beyond that, it has felt like a little home. We’d wake to birdsong and an entire herd of curious cows peeking in the window, like something from a story. Your kindness, concern about our safe arrival and the gentle touch of a full cream tea made us feel quite special. Your attentiveness and prompt communications are very much appreciated. We’ve only spent a few days this time, but can’t wait to return for much longer.”

“Thank you, Lee and William, for another enjoyable week – our third with you at Eliza’s Croft. The welcoming cream tea with homemade scones and the views across the fields and moorland with the sea in the background as we relax enjoying the tea make it the start to a delightful week. Beautiful walks along the coastal path, the rugged mining chimneys and then just a few miles across the moor there is Penzance and the South Coast. A perfect location.”
